Its real magic is the motion, a smooth swinging movement powered by its own weight and a counterweight in the base ring, mimicking a boat rocking gently on the waves. You build the whole elegant piece by hand, piece by piece.

The build is quick and easy, about 1.5 hours across its 161 pieces, making it one of the most approachable kits in the range. It's full of charm and function too: give it a simple push and it demonstrates potential energy converting into kinetic, a lovely hands-on bit of physics, and a hidden drawer in the base houses a manually rotating compass.
